WELLINGTON (New Zealand) - NEW Zealand confirmed swine flu infections in 14 people on Wednesday, including a school group recently returned from Mexico, extending the deadly new disease's global reach into the Asia-South Pacific region.

On Tuesday night Health Minister Tony Ryall said tests conducted at a World Health Organisation laboratory in Australia had confirmed three cases of swine flu among 11 members of the group who were showing symptoms, and officials had decided that was evidence enough to assume all of them were infected.

Early Wednesday he confirmed three more suspected cases - two among the school student group and one involving another traveller from North America.

'We should assume it is swine flu among the 14 cases identified,' Auckland Regional Public Health Authority clinical director Dr Julia Peters told reporters.

Mr Ryall said there were 44 more suspected cases in the country, with further testing under way. All had recently traveled outside New Zealand.

Those infected were 12 students and one teacher from a single school - Auckland city's Rangitoto College - who reported having fevers and other flu-like symptoms on their return Saturday from a visit to Mexico. The other sufferer had flown in from North America.

Ten students and a teacher initially had all tested positive for flu in New Zealand, and samples were then sent to the WHO Collaborating Center for Reference and Research on Influenza in Melbourne, Australia, to be tested for swine flu.

Some tests were inconclusive but three came back positive, Mr Ryall told a news conference in Wellington.

Health Ministry spokesman Peter Abernethy said the strain of swine flu confirmed in the students was the same as the virus that is suspected to have caused more than 150 deaths in Mexico.

All 14 are being treated with the antiviral drug Tamiflu and have been in voluntary quarantine at home.

'Their symptoms were mild and all are recovering, the pattern seen in countries outside of Mexico,' Mr Ryall said.

Dr Peters noted that after completing treatment with Tamiflu the students and their families 'are not infectious. Most will be back at school tomorrow (Thursday).' -- AP

MOE: No complaints from parents, Dr Thio

April 29, 2009
AWARE'S SEXUALITY EDUCATION PROGRAMME
MOE: No complaints from parents, Dr Thio

WE REFER to recent claims and comments about the sexuality education programme in schools by the Association of Women for Action and Research (Aware).

Sexuality education conducted in Ministry of Education (MOE) schools is premised on the importance of the family and respect for the values and beliefs of the different ethnic and religious communities on sexuality issues. The aim is to help students make responsible values-based choices on matters involving sexuality.

Core programmes are delivered by teachers but schools do collaborate with other agencies in delivering additional modules. However, in doing so, schools must ensure that any programmes run by external agencies are secular and sensitive to the multi-religious make-up of our society. Parents can choose to opt their children out of these programmes.

Last year, 11 secondary schools engaged Aware to run workshops for their students. The number of students involved in each school ranged from about 20 to 100, and each workshop lasted three hours. The objectives of these workshops were to provide students with accurate information on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)/HIV, to help students understand the consequences of premarital sexual activity, and to equip students with skills such as decision-making and resisting negative peer pressure.

Aware also conducted assembly talks, typically of 45 minute duration, for students in a few secondary schools. Some of the areas covered in the talks included body image, self-esteem, eating disorders, teenage pregnancies, sexual harassment and the role of women in today's context.

The schools that engaged Aware found that the content and messages of the sessions conducted were appropriate for their students and adhered to guidelines to respect the values of different religious groups. The schools did not receive any negative feedback from students who attended the workshops and talks or their parents.

In particular, MOE has also not received any complaint from parents or Dr Thio Su Mien, who was reported to have made specific claims about sexuality education in our schools. MOE has contacted Dr Thio to seek clarification and facts to substantiate her claims.

If parents and members of the public know of specific instances where guidelines have not been adhered to, they should report them directly to MOE to investigate. MOE recognises that sexuality education is sensitive. In conducting these programmes, the views of parents will be respected and values taught should not deviate from the social norms accepted by mainstream society in Singapore.

What the school programme teaches students

What the school programme teaches students

I REFER to reactions to Aware's Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) programme. The CSE was developed when data released in 2005 showed a sharp rise in sexually transmitted infections (STI) among teenage girls. Between 2000 and 2005, this figure grew 3.4 times. We were concerned because some STIs can cause sterility.

A study by the National University Hospital found that 117 girls under 20 years of age had abortions, and of these, nine had previous abortions. Nearly 30 per cent of women above age 20 had previous abortions.

Clearly, accurate information about safer sex and contraception is severely lacking for teens and adults. Aware's CSE programme set out to help close the information gap.

Other studies have shown a higher rate of depression and suicide among young people who are homosexual, especially those unsure about their sexuality. A study last year found that, compared to those who were not rejected by their families, homosexuals who faced family rejection as teenagers were:

# eight times more likely to report having attempted suicide;

# almost six times more likely to report high levels of depression;

# and, most worryingly, three times likelier to report having engaged in unprotected sex.

Most parents would rightly be concerned if their children are taught that homosexuality is acceptable. But parents have told us that they would be even more concerned if their children were agonising about their sexuality, were severely depressed or were being bullied because they were different.

Aware's CSE approaches all the issues from a health perspective. Our approach is to provide students with up-to-date information so they can make sensible decisions that will help them stay healthy - physically, emotionally and psychologically. In a multi-cultural and multi-religious society, we believe that parents are the best people to teach their children about moral and cultural values. The CSE trainers encourage students to speak with parents and religious leaders if they have further questions.

Less than five minutes is spent on the statements on homosexuality. The rest of the three-hour session involves games and role-play scenarios, including extensive discussion and role-play on the consequences of sex, and how to say no.

The CSE programme takes a lifelong approach to sex and aims to equip young people for adulthood and marriage as there are even fewer chances for sex education after they leave school.

NDP 09 no cheap show? get your priorities right.

NDP 09 no cheap show? get your priorities right.

Apparently, NDP’s organisers have to go all out to assure people that we are not stinging or cutting back on our NDP’s budget.

SINGAPORE may be going through its deepest recession, but its birthday bash will be no ‘cheap show’. To reporters during a media briefing at the floating platform at Marina Bay, Brigadier-General Tan Chuan-Jin, chairman of this year’s organising committee said said costs would be managed, but that ‘the bells and whistles will still be there’.

I’m sorry but there seems to be some misplaced priorities here. I cannot seem to find the budget for NDP 09, or other years for that matter(any heads up for this?) but I will try to hazard a guess and put the bill at around $10million? Either way, why is the Government spending so much money on showcase events to ahem, instill national pride? Will my national pride and loyalty be increased because I just watched a multi-million dollar show on TV or in real life? Will my love for Singapore be increased because I participated in a NDP? I don’t think so. So why are we spending so much money on such lavish celebrations in such trying times?

In fact, the government should exercise empathy and cut lavish celebrations to the minimum to reflect the prevailing sombre mood around the country. Every dollar less spent is a dollar saved and a dollar channelled to more worthy causes such as charitable events or to help people in dire straits.

I am also staunchly against the use of “SAF volunteers” for any form of NDP event. Firstly, its an insult to the word “volunteer”. Do SAF parade personnel have any opt-out option from NDP? No. The lack of existence of such an option proves clearly that the NDP is not made up of volunteers but instead co-erced personnel. This is further proof that NS liability can be cut even more, since participation in NDPs(wrapping goodie bags, crowd control, parade personnel etc) is definitely unrelated to the defence of Singapore, something that NSFs are supposed to do originally. Just because they are paid low wages does not mean that SAF have every right to use them for the glorification of the nation and the SAF, for that is a contravention of the original aims of NS and pure exploitation of cheap labour.

‘Every voice matters and we are going out in a big way to get everyone to play their part to make the celebrations meaningful,’ said Brig-Gen Tan.

Really BG Tan? Every voice matters? Here’s one: Cut the celebrations budget by 50%, and donate the excess to charities or funds for the needy. That will make the celebrations inclusive and really meaningful for people who need such help, instead of some useless pomp and fireworks that will be forgotten quickly by others who do not, in the least, feel inspired by your celebrations and love Singapore more.

And yes, spending at least 6 million on Singapore Day OVERSEAS is sheer wastage too. Singaporeans who want to return will return not because you spent 6 million on catering Singaporean food for them overseas, and Singaporeans who do not want to return will not return, regardless of whether you spent 6 dollars, 6 million dollars or 60 million dollars entertaining them.

Identity mobilisation - a threat to society

Identity mobilisation - a threat to society

This morning, I received an email from a friend who told me that supporters of the new executive committee (exco) of AWARE are circulating an article that justifies an anti-gay position.

He asked me if I had any article that could rebut the points.

I told him in reply that it would not be worth the trouble. People who adopt a strongly anti-gay opinion are generally not interested in facts. You can feed them with as much information and logic as you have the time for, but they are just not receptive to it. It is important to bear this in mind in order to grasp the big picture as the AWARE controversy comes to a head this weekend.
Laying out facts still important

This is not to say that laying out facts and reason are not important. Most people on this earth are pragmatic and reasonable. They are what we call the "middle ground" who can be convinced with good evidence and rational arguments.

However, most of the time, they are not interested, and it is very hard to make people take an interest in something when they don't see what it has to do with them.

Nonetheless, from time to time, some or more of them will, for their own reasons, be curious, and that's when they will go out to find information. So it's still better to lay out the facts and arguments for secularism, justice and inclusiveness than not to do so.

It will also be interesting to dissect the tactics of the Thio-guard -- the anti-gay side led by Thio Su Mien -– to more clearly see the threat they and their ilk pose to social stability. It is wrong to assume that controversies such as this will be resolved through facts and reason. They will not. The anti-gay side is using a playbook that harks back to a more atavistic time.

Motive

Before I recount the key stages in the battle, it is important to be clear what their motive was: to strip AWARE's work of anything that is even remotely gay-tolerant or gay-affirmative. By now, it should be obvious that this impulse springs from the religious aims of Thio Su Mien and her sidekicks to eradicate homosexuality from Singapore society.

Plans A, B and C

They began with stealth. They launched a dawn raid to capture the organisation without saying a thing about what they stood for and why they sought office. For the first two weeks, they avoided the media and any questions about what they're about.

When calls for them to declare their intentions became too loud to ignore, they tried Plan B: give evasive answers. Interviewed on Channel NewsAsia, Josie Lau, the new president, denied there had been any conspiracy, claiming they were individually, coincidentally interested in getting involved only because the old AWARE had "lost its focus" without much elaboration what they meant by that. Asked what AWARE would now do should a lesbian facing discrimination approached them for help, she answered,

"the new Exco will have to take a look at this and see what is the direction we want to take".

--'Today' newspaper, 20 April 2009, AWARE
president says will not step down despite pressure

Public reaction to that television interview was almost uniformly negative. People could see that they were not being forthright, so within less than a week, Plan B was abandoned in favour of Plan C: attack.

Big Bertha [1] was rolled out in the form of Thio Su Mien at a press conference held by the new guard on 23 April 2009. She unashamedly revealed that it had been a conspiracy after all, orchestrated by her. She also demonstrated that indeed, the aim had all along been to purge AWARE of any gay-tolerant content and use AWARE as a vehicle to push her fundamentalist Christian views on homosexuality onto Singapore society.

Background

AWARE – the Association of Women for Action and Research was taken over in late March 2009 by a group of women with extremely conservative Christian beliefs. The key office holders all belong to the same church -- Church of Our Savior. Affiliated with this church is Choices, a group that promotes the hocus-pocus idea of being able to "cure" homosexuality, and Focus on the Family, the Singapore arm of the rabidly anti-gay vanguard of the American religious right.

A fight between supporters of the old guard and the new exco will culminate in an extraordinary general meeting on 2 May 2009.

The Straits Times reported of the press conference:

Dr Thio explained that her concern about the direction that Aware was taking was partly prompted by a letter from a parent who was concerned that the society was promoting a homosexual agenda.

He wrote to the Today newspaper in 2007 to ask why Aware's choice of a movie for a charity show was Spider Lilies, about two lesbians who fall in love.

Dr Thio said she went on to discover that in Aware's comprehensive sexuality education programme, which is taken to schools, homosexuality is regarded as a neutral word, not a negative word.

"I started thinking, 'Hey, parents , you better know what's happening',"' she said.

"I talked to parents. I said: You better do something about this, otherwise your daughter will come back and say, 'Mum, I want to marry my girlfriend.'

"Or your son will say: 'Dad, I want to marry my boyfriend'."

[snip]

Pointing out that Aware's programme was already in 30 schools, she said: "The suggestion is that in this programme, young girls from 12 to 18 are taught that it's okay to experiment with each other.

"And this is something which should concern parents in Singapore. Are we going to have an entire generation of lesbians?"

-- Straits Times, 24 April 2009, Lawyer's
key role in Aware coup

New exco leaders at the same press conference echoed her allegations:

The new exco said AWARE had become a single purpose organisation overly concerned with promoting lesbianism.

They repeatedly raised examples, like how the old guard had backed a lesbian film screening in 2007 and organised a lesbian-friendly Mother’s Day event in 2006.

-- Channel NewsAsia, 23 April 2009, New exco wants
to bring AWARE back to its "original cause"

The problem with mounting an attack is that one would need enough force to achieve success. Even booming Big Bertha cannot do it alone without infantry. So the same sentences served two purposes: to cast aspersions on their opponent, and to rally the faithful. From the above alone, you can spot them pressing these emotional buttons wherever marked by this little symbol :

* There is an invasive homosexual agenda
* Parents – be afraid!
* Daughter will marry girlfriend
* Son will marry boyfriend
* Young girls experimenting with each other
* Entire generation of lesbians
* Promoting lesbianism

It does not matter if these allegations are patently untrue, as the old guard pointed out in their press conference the following evening. Truth is not material. Effect is.

These wild claims are proven bogeymen that can serve to alarm those who might otherwise only be moderately sympathetic to their anti-gay agenda. The hope is that others would be horrified enough to cast in their lot with Thio and company.

Gay marriage

On Tuesday, 28 April 2009, a letter by Josie Lau was published in the Straits Times [2]. It was written in response to Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Vivian Balakrishnan's comment that religion should be kept out of petty politics, and that a rainbow coalition is vital for any group here to make meaningful change [3].

This "parent" was no ordinary parent. It was none other than George Lim Heng Chye, a well-known homophobe, who wrote to the press many times displaying his ignorance and bigotry.

He is also a member of the same church as Thio and the exco officer-bearers, i.e.- the Church of Our Savior.

Whitewashing the issue by saying that "Aware is a secular organisation and we welcome women of all races and religions to be members," Lau added,

What about the interests of lesbians or what some call 'sexual orientation' or 'sexuality' rights? It depends on what interest is at stake. For example, we do not think lesbians should be discriminated against in the workplace, either in terms of promotion or pay; like every woman, they deserve equality of opportunity. The only relevant consideration is merit. There is a world of difference between fair employment rights and claims to 'same-sex marriage'.

-- Josie Lau in letter to the Straits Times, published
28 April 2009, What being inclusive means

Psychology professor George Bishop pointed out, in a comment posted on the LGBT email list SiGNeL, that even though the letter comes across as very reasonable, civil and inclusive, it nevertheless employs the same scare tactics.

The next paragraph, however, exposes her tactics. "There is a world of difference between fair employment rights and claims to 'same-sex marriage'." Same-sex marriage? The old guard at AWARE was promoting same sex marriage? Of course, she doesn't claim this directly and if pressed would deny it but it's implied in context.

[snip]

The tactic is to heighten people's fears about an issue that isn't even on the agenda and scare them out of voting for your opponent.

-- George Bishop in a comment on SiGNeL, 28 April 2009

Mobilising religion

Besides stoking fear to rally like-minded people to one's frontlines, there is also the use of religious affiliation to build solidarity for the political cause.

At multiple sermons on Saturday and Sunday, 25 – 26 April 2009, the Church of Our Saviour lent support to the Thio cause and called upon the faithful to support them. (I have also heard that some other churches did likewise, but have not yet received corroborating reports).

Calling for solidarity, he implored the women in the church to "unite with the sisters and support them." He also said that the new team’s actions are not "a crusade against the people," but instead a move to ensure that the nation does not cross the line drawn by God.

-- The Online Citizen, 27 April 2009, Staff sent out email asking members to vote at Aware EOGM. Link.

Listen to this audio (two and a half minutes) that I got thanks to Wayangparty.com. You will hear a pastor -- I think it's Derek Hong -- lauding what Alan Chin and his wife Josie Lau (the new president of AWARE) are doing. He called for prayer "to lift the family up to the Lord". Many members of the congregation then came forward, placed their hands on Chin and began speaking in tongues, as if possessed.

The tactic was one of getting his flock to participate in a public, demonstrative act of pledging. Done in an environment of community, which a place of worship is, it makes it hard for other members of the congregation to stand back and disassociate themselves from the program. There is the subliminal fear of estrangement from deity and social community should they demur. Social pressure therefore is applied on the whole congregation to stand as one behind the church-endorsed cause.

* * * * *

Identity mobilisation

This is the politics of identity mobilisation. There is no need for facts or reason. Appeals to fear and group belonging are what count. The more exaggerated the threat, the more effective. The more authoritative the calls to group solidarity (e.g. by religious leaders) the better.

A danger to society is posed when identity mobilisation becomes the primary means to settle disputes. In that case, it's really no more than street brawls. Once begun by one side, there is a tendency to become mutually escalating if the other side finds that reason doesn't work and so must resort too to the same tactics. Eventually, the stronger side wins, not the better arguments.

How does one combat this? By reason? By laying out facts? Don't be naïve. If people are of a mind to think through issues, there won't be the spectre of identity mobilisation and mass street brawls in the first place. That this strategy works in cause after cause, tells us that most humans respond to the emotive more than the rational.

If a society wants to be rid of the risk of being torn asunder by identity mobilisation, it has to do something about identity and mobilisation in the first place.

Let me take mobilisation first. It reminds us of a perennial dilemma of free societies. How much freedom do we give to people who would use that freedom to deny others' freedom? How much say do we give to those who would disenfranchise others? At what point should the state step in and say: You cannot say this; you cannot mobilise thus; your ends are incompatible with social peace, freedom and equality?

I think most people will accept that somewhere a line has to be drawn. This AWARE saga should set us thinking long and hard where that line ought to be.

Note how the words "sexual orientation" and "sexuality" were put in quotation marks in Josie Lau's letter when there was really no typographical need to. By doing so, she signalled that she considered these concepts invented, unreal and illegitimate. A figment of other people's imagination.

We should also do something about identity, for identity mobilisation is only effective when identity boundaries are clear. That is why perhaps the best antidote to ethnic tension is simply to get people to mix with others of a different ethnic group at school, at work and in the same neighbourhoods. When fear is understood to be baseless and stereotypes proven to be lies, shrill calls to communal defence by extremists fall on deaf ears.

Ditto with the fear of homosexuality. As more and more straight people get to know gay people, as more and more it is considered just and correct to treat everybody fairly regardless of sexual orientation, the "threat" of homosexuality will be seen as so much fanatical imaginings.

Hence, for the extremist rightwing, the message of tolerance itself is intolerable. Tolerance and neutrality renders impotent the strategy of identity mobilisation.

And that's why you see Thio and gang on the offensive against AWARE's programs. Speaking of homosexual orientation in a neutral, non-judgemental way is considered the same as "promoting homosexuality". If you're not with us, you're against us.

What this means is that, if we don't want to see this kind of identity mobilisation tear society apart over the question of homosexuality, the solution is not to freeze, stand still and move no further forward on the question of gay equality, but the opposite: To move faster. To blur the distinction and value differential between gay and straight. So that scary bogeymen conjured by fanatical minds are not believed but laughed away. And fanatics seen for what they are: the real threat.

Be Aware of Groundless Discrimination

Be Aware of Groundless Discrimination

Recently in Singapore, a group of fundamental Xtians coordinated a cunning takeover of a women’s rights group called AWARE (if the leaked emails of their ploy are true). These new Exco members claim that AWARE promotes lesbianism, when it merely does its bit to speak up against lesbians being ostracised, among speaking up for many other general and heterosexual women’s issues. It is extremely foolish that these new members are trying to seize control of a secular organisation with such high-handed ways - because they are ‘accidentally’ highlighting their condemnation of those with different sexuality, which forces the many more tolerant ones to speak up against them. This interestingly speeds up the process of weeding out such narrow fundamentalist thinking in Singapore, where there is increased acceptance of gays.

The government and press have already indicated that their pro-inclusive stance. The Ministry of Education too had said AWARE’s sex awareness programs in schools are sound (http://theonlinecitizen.com/2009/04/moe-replies-to-questions-about-awares-cse-programme). The anti-gay exco are in boiling hot soup that is hard to get out of - because it will look foolish both ways - to press on their agenda or to quit. Well, that’s just bad karma - really. May they repent soon. May their gay family members and friends, if there are any, forgive and not ostracise them.

The ‘mentor’ of the takeover ‘hinted’ that sexuality can be changed. Now, that’s another foolish notion. If sexuality can be changed so easily, why don’t she try changing to be a homosexual for a while, before changing back? She will realise it is near impossible - at least, in a single lifetime - due to the force of habit. Buddhists are generally accepting of all sexualities, but practise to eventually transcend all sexual fixations. Scientists have already ruled sexual tendencies to be in place at birth, and that it is not a physical or mental disorder while Buddhists would see excess attachment or aversion to any sexual fixation as being ‘right’ as a spiritual disorder. Any discrimination against homosexuality is thus personal, even if on ‘religious’ ground. What the ‘mentor’ and company are doing is creating unneeded discrimination against Xtians and their own church. Foolish indeed.

Who benefits the most from a flu pandemic? Is the swine virus man made?

Who benefits the most from a flu pandemic? Is the swine virus man made? Read and consider.
—————————————————————————————————
http://www.naturalnews.com/026141.html

(NaturalNews) Perhaps due to the genetic makeup of the fast-spreading H1N1 strain of influenza — which includes genetic elements from bird flu, swine flu and human flu spanning three continents — there is considerable speculation that the origins of this virus are man-made.

It’s not an unreasonable question to ask: Could world governments, spooked by the prospect of radical climate change caused by over-population of the planet, have assembled a super-secret task force to engineer and distribute a super virulent strain of influenza designed to “correct” the human population (and institute global Martial Law)?

Technically, it’s possible. The U.S. military, all by itself, has the know-how to engineer and unleash such a virus. That doesn’t mean they’ve done so, however. It would be an astonishing leap into crimes against humanity to intentionally unleash such a biological weapon into the wild.

Then again, governments of the world have routinely engaged in crimes against humanity, haven’t they? The U.S., for example, dropped nuclear bombs on civilian populations in Japan. Israel rained white phosphorous on Palestinians, Hitler exterminated countless Jews, and Americans fired millions of rounds of depleted uranium rounds into targets in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unleashing a viral biological weapon in Mexico City is no great leap beyond what governments have already done to achieve their goals.

Throughout human history, virtually all the great crimes against humanity have been carried out by governments — mostly in the name of peace, prosperity and security, by the way. So let’s be clear about one thing: Governments are certainly capable of doing this if properly motivated. Let there be no question about that.

Is there any hard evidence of laboratory origins?
As of this moment, I have not personally seen any conclusive evidence of laboratory origins for this H1N1 swine flu. I am open to the possibility that new evidence may emerge in this direction, however, and I am suspicious of the genetic makeup of the virus as one possible indicator of its origins.

I am not a medical specialist in the area of infectious disease, but I have studied microbiology, genetics and a considerable amount of material on pandemics. What seems suspicious to me is the hybrid origin of the viral fragments found in H1N1 influenza. According to reports in the mainstream media (which has no reason to lie about this particular detail), this strain of influenza contains viral code fragments from:

• Human influenza
• Bird Flu from North America
• Swine flu from Europe
• Swine flu from Asia

This is rather astonishing to realize, because for this to have been a natural combination of viral fragments, it means an infected bird from North America would have had to infect pigs in Europe, then be re-infected by those some pigs with an unlikely cross-species mutation that allowed the bird to carry it again, then that bird would have had to fly to Asia and infected pigs there, and those Asian pigs then mutated the virus once again (while preserving the European swine and bird flu elements) to become human transmittable, and then a human would have had to catch that virus from the Asian pigs — in Mexico! — and spread it to others. (This isn’t the only explanation of how it could have happened, but it is one scenario that gives you an idea of the complexity of such a thing happening).

Now, on a common sense level, what is the likelihood of such a combination of seemingly unlikely, trans-continental events taking place? At first glance, without the benefit of additional laboratory analysis, it seems extremely unlikely that this could have happened “naturally,” without human intervention. It’s not outside the realm of possibility, of course, but it seems exceedingly remote that such events happened without some human encouragement.

This is perhaps why the internet is smoking hot with talk of swine flu conspiracy theories. Alex Jones is, of course, covering the issue in articles like this one: http://www.infowars.com/medical-dir…

If the release of the virus was intentional, there are essentially two explanations for who might be behind it: 1) Governments attempting to reduce the human population, 2) Bio-terrorists attempting to kill lots of people. Or perhaps 3) Those two groups are one and the same!
Why we shouldn’t dismiss the conspiracy theories outright
Many of the points made in conspiracy articles are well made, in fact: There is both a motive and a means for governments of the world to have played a role in the creation and transmission of this virus. Still, it doesn’t mean they did, and NaturalNews will be cautious in reporting such conclusions until more evidence emerges.

There’s no question about one aspect of the circulating conspiracy theories, however: If governments wanted to infect people with this bio-engineered swine flu, vaccines would be the best way to do it. It seems interesting that Mexico City health officials, in particular, leaped to a mass vaccination campaign in the midst of the swine flu outbreak even though no vaccines are yet available for swine flu!

So what, exactly, were Mexico City’s health officials injecting into health care workers and patients? There’s absolutely nothing they could have been injected with that would make any medical sense other than Tamiflu. But Tamiflu is an oral medication, not an injection. So what, then, was being injected into Mexico City’s hospital workers?

What’s very clear here is that Mexico is engaged in a massive cover-up about the swine flu. The potential from economic damage caused by other nations banning travel and imports from Mexico is very real, and as a strategy to minimize that economic damage, Mexico seems to be purposely under-reporting swine flu infections and deaths while engaging in elaborate theater whose only purpose is to make its own medical authorities appear to be doing something useful. Hence the useless vaccines stunt.

This is further supported by medical personnel whose comments appeared on the Barbara Walter show, published with ABC News Australia (http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/20…). Read carefully what these medical experts have to say about the real situation on the ground in Mexico City:

ANTONIO CHAVEZ’S BBC WEBSITE POSTING (voiceover): The truth is that mortality is even higher than what is being reported by the authorities, at least in the hospital where I work in. It is killing three to four patients daily, and it has been going on for more than three weeks. It’s a shame that there is fear here.

Increasingly younger patients aged 20 to 30 years are dying before our helpless eyes, and there is great sadness among health professionals here.

BARBARA MILLER: Another doctor who wrote into the BBC is Yeny Gregorio Dávila.

EXCERPT FROM YENY GREGORIO DÁVILA’ BBC posing (voiceover): I work as a resident doctor in one of the biggest hospitals in Mexico City and sadly, the situation is far from “under control”. As a doctor, I realize that the media does not report the truth. Authorities distributed vaccines among all the medical personnel with no results, because two of my partners who worked in this hospital were killed by this new virus in less than six days, even though they were vaccinated as all of us were. The official number of deaths is 20; nevertheless, the true number of victims are more than 200. I understand that we must avoid panic, but to tell the truth - it might be better now to prevent and avoid more deaths.

BARBARA MILLER: While Mexican officials say their primary concern right now is human life, the country’s Finance Minister Augustin Carstens says it’s clear that the outbreak will have a significant impact on the country’s economy.

Vaccinated doctors dead in days
Did you catch what was said here? As Dr. Yeny Gregoria Davila posted on the BBC website, vaccines were given to the medical personnel and those very same medical personnel were dead within six days. Thus, the vaccine is certainly not protecting these people from infection.

According to the conspiracy theories, these vaccines may indeed be the carrier of the virus. Injecting front-line medical personnel with the virus is the fastest way to spread it even further because medical workers interact with large numbers of immune-compromised people on a daily basis, including many people who tend to travel from far away to visit the hospital and then return to their distant towns, burros or villages in Mexico.

Furthermore, the true number of people infected or killed by the virus is being vastly underreported, according to these doctors. It’s just like China’s handling of SARS: The country was hesitant to admit the disease existed at all in order to avoid international embarrassment over its lackluster health policies.

As the WHO knows quite well, nations are universally reluctant to tell the truth about infectious disease. There’s even a good reason why: Big Pharma usually attempts to acquire the virus early on, patent its particular genetic code, then manufacture expensive vaccines that it sells back to the stricken nation at a ridiculously-high price. This is how Big Pharma profits from a pandemic, turning human suffering into corporate profits.

Thus, it is actually in a nation’s economic interests to avoid sharing viral strains with world health authorities because WHO routinely shares viral specimens with pharmaceutical companies. This is just one factor in a long list of factors that compel nations to lie about infectious disease outbreaks.

Even when it comes to pandemic outbreaks, we are still dealing with layer upon layer of commercially-motivated deception on the part of nations. That’s why it’s so important to figure out how to “read between the lies” of the mainstream media. I teach some techniques for doing that in my upcoming Swine flu advanced preparedness LIVE teleconference which you can read about here: http://www.truthpublishing.com/Prod…

This teleconference also reveals secret Chinese Medicine formulas for expelling viruses, how to survive disruptions in basic infrastructure (which are likely to occur if this swine flu goes pandemic), why flu masks are utterly useless at protecting you from flu, and many other topics. Another reason to avoid vaccines
Let’s suppose for a minute that the conspiracy theory angle on this swine flu infection is correct. If the spread of the virus starts to wane, the best way for health authorities to unleash a second wave of infections is to mandate the vaccination of the public with vaccines that are intentionally contaminated with live H1N1 viruses.

Does that sound far-fetched? Consider the news item published here on NaturalNews just one month ago, entitled Vaccines as Biological Weapons? Live Avian Flu Virus Placed in Baxter Vaccine Materials Sent to 18 Countries (http://www.naturalnews.com/025760.html).

As that article explained, one pharmaceutical company was caught inserting LIVE bird flu viruses into vaccine materials sent to 18 countries. Was this a trial run for the H1N1 global infection effort? It certainly raises suspicions. When a new virus seemingly “engineered” from three different species suddenly appears in multiple nations — just one month after a drug company was busted inserting live bird flu viral fragments into globally-distributed vaccine materials — it should raise the eyebrows of even the most steadfast skeptics.

It doesn’t prove anything, of course, but it does raise suspicions that this sort of thing could be happening beyond closed doors.

The question to ask yourself on this is the usual one: Who benefits from a global pandemic?

Once you answer that question, you’re well on the way to determining the truth or falsehood behind the H1N1 conspiracy theories.

I’m not even going to answer that question for you. I’ll let you ponder the answer yourself.

Once you answer the question of who benefits from a pandemic, ask yourself this second question: Are they capable of harming or killing humans to accomplish their goals?

Answer that question and you’ve figured out most of the true story behind these events.
